FR - Bunmi Koko S/S 2011 at Vauxhall Fashion Scout

WHEN  Thursday 16th September 2010
WHERE Vauxhall Fashion Scout

The last couple of months, my spies from PrinceCassius.com informed me about Bunmi Koko. Having seen her dresses on Melanie B (ex-Spice girls) I was very much looking forward to attend her show.
Having sat front row among Cherri V, Calum Best and Keisha Buchanan the sensational show was held at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

A talented designer from University of East London she defines her collections as a fusion of Nigerian and Scottish heritage where engineering and fashion unite to create innovative designs which to date has resulted in the creation of Longtitudinal Caissons; a new method of creating tubular silhouettes in fabric.

This fusion was certainly achieved when we were struck with the striking colour on tribal printed sillouettes mixed with high couture, pret-a-porter elements and fabrics. Impressive were the oversized pom poms made out of rayon raffia details, fringing and beading.

Bunmi Koko’s collection conveyed a ‘Journey of Discovery’ introduced a fiery and strong ‘Matriarchy Collection’ of prints.
Her designs are highly inspiration and have been highly admired by the fashion director of The Daily Telegraph and other high profile celebrities such as Michelle Obama and Sadie Frost.

Her garments are inspired to celebrate female empowerment with luxury fabrics.
