WHAT MARIA GRACHVOGEL S/S 2011
WHEN 17th September 2010
WHERE SOMERSET HOUSE
Maria Grachvogel was one of the first designers to unveil their Spring Summer 2011 collection. Known for sending Victoria Beckham down the catwalk a decade ago, her offering today was rather more understated.
Conveying a modern approach with minimalist cuts and femininity wearable shapes her collection were quintessence of luxurious simplicity.
The colours were vivid, with fizzy canary yellows and deep teals balancing out the staple spring nude and caramel tones to convey ‘chic simplicity’. The printsr were truly striking, and would flatter many more skin tones than the pale, caramel palette with Erin O’ connor and Yasmin Le Bon sitting front row.
The effortless flow of the fabric was juxtaposed with extraordinary prints created using artwork of wolves, moths and phoenixes, which were emblazoned on a selection of simple below-the-knee shift dresses.
The dresses and catsuits alike appeared almost fluid on the models, demonstrating Grachvogel’s signature draping and meticulous cut.
