JAEGER FIRST FREESTANDING MENSWEAR STORE
Jaeger, the iconic British fashion brand, launches its first freestanding menswear store, on 21st November 2011.
Located in Cabot Place West, Canary Wharf, the Jaeger menswear store offers the new season’s collection with a specific emphasis on tailoring, within a contemporary Jaeger London branded shop fit. The new store opening follows the successful launch of the Jaeger London branded womenswear store in Canary Wharf last November.
Belinda Earl, Jaeger’s Group Chief Executive, comments: ‘This is an exciting development for Jaeger menswear and its expansion. Canary Wharf is firmly established as a destination shopping area, giving us the opportunity to showcase our strong and stylish menswear collection to our growing menswear customer base.
Jaeger was established in 1884 on the principles espoused by Dr Gustav Jaeger, Professor of Zoology: wool and noble fibres worn close to the skin provide health-giving benefits and offer warmth in winter and coolness in summer. Jaeger's illustrious history has seen its continued innovative and expressive use of wool, from the early practicalities of equipping Scott and Shackleton's Antarctic expeditions in the early 1900s, to crafting iconic designs throughout the proceeding decades, utilizing its luxurious and versatile benefits.
Today, 127 years on, Jaeger continues to uphold these principles, and it is with this unique vantage point that Jaeger launches its first menswear store. Taking influence from the brand’s heritage and illustrious history, teamed with its contemporary British designs, Jaeger creates stylish tailoring crafted to elongate the body through considered lapel proportions, a tapered jacket waist and neatly cut trousers. A high armhole, strong chest construction and a prominent shoulder line all enhance the defined British Jaeger suit.
Jaeger is currently working direct with British weavers, spinners, finishers and manufacturers to create innovative and exclusive wool developments such as its '40 mile fleece-to-fabric' men’s jacketing cloth, engineering designs and patterns on the loom for inventive styled men’s suitings and a unique British trench - all conveying Jaeger’s ethos of quality, heritage and eminence to promote UK manufacture. Jaeger is proud to state that over 60% of its tailoring is woven at British Mills.
