Being born in Argentina, Isabel started her relationship with fashion when she worked as a model 15 years ago. After studying Economics and Communications Sciences she moved to the corporate world, where she developed her career in the Communications market. She then seized the opportunity of traveling around the world through her job, to learn, investigate and experience fashion in different places.
A couple of years ago, she decided to focus her talents on fashion and after studying Fashion Design in Central Saint Martins and after a number of courses in jewellery manufacturing with well-known goldsmiths, she finally launched her brand: Isabel Englebert Jewellery, early in 2012.

Silver, Gold, precious and semiprecious stones, leather and even acrylic are the materials which Isabel uses to transmit her fashion vision.

Eye-catching colours, original shapes and materials as well as stone size, guarantee one-of-a-kind pieces, that make the user feel different, glamorous and above all, unique.

The talented designer has been featured from Hapers Bazzar, Vogue, Forbes to international magazines and press and I had the chance to have a seat down with her for an interview.

1. Isabel, from a supermodel to a super mum and now a business mogul, what are you working on next?

I love changes and I’ve never been someone that stays still waiting for something great to happen… I go for it! Nowadays I’m working on a new pret a porter collection to break into wider markets and have designed a particularly special range inspired by Polo, which my husband is heavily involved in.

I think jewelry has its own universal language which, if correctly designed, can appeal to the masses. I strive to make jewels so that when someone is wearing an Isabel Englebert piece, they are instantly recognized as stylish, unique and strong.

2. What is the most meaningful piece of jewelry you own?

I adore my Art Deco necklace. It represents me because it mixes many concepts: old and new, traditional and modern, elegant yet empowering. I like to combine unexpected materials in innovative ways. Besides, it has an emotional meaning because I designed it while I was pregnant.

3. Where do your inspiration come from?

Mainly my trips, art exhibitions, nature… I’m a very curious person so the inspiration can come from anywhere. A group of people sitting in at the next table, my friends, a movie, anything! It all contributes to the story.

4. What makes you so different from any other Argentina designers?

When I started I was sure I wanted to do something different, something that you wouldn’t find anywhere in the market. I like to dress in unique designs, so I was certain that I wanted exclusive pieces in my brand to make people feel special and most importantly, that when you wear my jewellery, it is the star statement of the outfit.

5. You recently launch at Wolf and Badger, Mayfair London. How was the launch?

Absolutely amazing! Many of my friends came as well as super influential people from the industry. For me, coming from Argentina and having the chance to show my work in London, the world’s fashion capital, is super exciting. It’s a dream come true! Besides Wolf and Badger is a store where all the up and coming designers are showcased. It is really incredible how rapidly we are growing and how supportive people have been. Just this year we are also retailing at I Love Designer, Kids of Dada and Luxx Boutique!

6. What sort of pieces would describe you?

The really bold ones and the unique ones. Honestly, most of my designs are things that I would wear, I can’t think in another way when I start to work.

7. What celebrity would fit your brand?

Someone like yourself my darling. Bold and striving to make a statement yet elegant at the same time. It’s less about the celebrity and more about the empowering people you see every day, with a delicious sense of style that you just have to stop and think ‘wow’.

8. You also have mens cufflinks - which are my favorites. How did you get into that?

Thanks! Yes, I’ve seen that the market didn’t have any cufflinks with this fusion approach, and I love men with sophisticated fashion sense who use cufflinks as a subtle quirky statement. Though my line is mostly for women, I wanted to add a collection for the dapper males in London.
