This Pride season marks 50 years since Parliament first voted to start legalising homosexuality. Across the UK, Prides will be marching with a message of hope, acceptance, activism and love. Ahead of the London parade on 8th July, Pride in London and WCRS have launched a multi-media campaign, celebrating love in all its forms.

The ‘Love Happens Here’ campaign will play out in two phases; ‘Hate’ and ‘Love’. The first phase draws attention to the rising problem of anti-LGBT+ hate crime in the London with Guerrilla-style fly-postering across the city, a covert take-over of Wi-Fi networks, statistic led taxi-tops and an event, which all tell stories aimed to raise awareness of the ongoing prevalence of prejudice.

On the 23rd June, the second ‘Love’ phase of the campaign will launch, which sees the stories of hate crime replaced with ones of love, showing London that ‘Love Happens Here’. 
Every year thousands of families and friendships are broken apart due to a lack of understanding and tolerance towards the LGBT+ community. Pride’s message is a positive and inclusive rallying cry to everyone that it’s never too late to reconcile. 

To highlight this and celebrate the upcoming Pride season, Pride in London and Channel 4 have also partnered together in an industry first on a series of LGBT+ programming. From the 24th June, four LGBT+ themed adverts – created by WCRS and directed by Fred Scott at Pulse Films – will be aired during every Channel 4 programme, each representing different parts of the community. One of the adverts will also run as a 90” across cinema during the campaign period.  

The multi-media campaign will also see OOH sites across the city (including fly-posters, large format OOH and the London Underground kindly donated by Jack Agency, Outdoor Plus, Clear Channel, 8 Outdoor, Kong Outdoor, Primesight, Media Circus, Ocean Outdoor, Outdoor Plus, Urban Vision, ECNLive, STORM, Verifone and Exterion) filled with stories of love, sourced from diverse members of the LGBT+ community. Each story has been beautifully illustrated in posters created by more than 30 illustrators and artists, who donated their time for free to the campaign. These ‘Love Happens Here’ prints will also be available from the Tate as part of their Queer Britain season.

To mark the start of the festival, Ocean Outdoor have also partnered with Pride in London for a love domination at Westfield Stratford on Saturday 24th June.  The ‘Love Happens Here’ campaign will also go global with interactive DOOH sites in New York at locations in Times Square, and sites wishing people a great World Pride in Madrid at Gatwick & Stansted airports.

I was invited to Glamour HQ in London to do an interview with the delightful and gorgeous Alessandra Steinherr (Beauty Editor of Glamour Magazine). We laughed, we talked, we kissed and of course spoke about 'AFRO' hair. Alessandra is one of the most down-to-earth person i've actually meet. She welcomed me with open arms and made me at ease. Alessandra has been a beauty journalist for over 16 years and there's one area she always wanted to know about which was 'Afro Hair' so Dark 'n' Lovely challenged Alessandra to become an Afro hair expert in just a few weeks.


All of you know me for my hair styles from an Afro to a High Top but most don't know my hair regime, what products I use and the big question 'How long it takes'.  Check out my interview with Alessandra on Episode 4 below:

I'm excited to share with you my personal experience with lavazza during LC:M. As you all heard I was collaborating with Lavazza and Matthew Miller. Last week, I was running a competition via all social media to win Front Row tickets to Matthew Miller Spring and Summer '16 show. The Matthew Miller showcase took place on Saturday 11th June, day 2 of LC:M where I met the winner of the competition.




The Experience

On Saturday, the lovely team from Lavazza and I met at British Fashion Council Venue: 180 Strand, London, WC2R 1EA.  Where everyone descended upon our capital once more like the fashionable plague that it is, bringing with it the usual swarms of street-style peacocks, stylish celebrities and infuriatingly attractive models. I was then taken backstage and given an full access wrist band - which was beyond exciting.

After backstage and a change of outfit, I was delighted to meet this young tailor who drew my attention on Twitter. Not only was she a fan but one of the sweetest girl I have ever met. A true joy. After chatting to her and her husband, I escorted them into the press lounge when we had a sip of Lavazza coffee then moved onto the fashion show.




The Show

I absolutely loved Matthew Miller SS17 show, it had inspiration of the youth, culture that blends satirical graphics with dusted, soft-suiting for Matthew Miller‘s explosive Spring/Summer 2017. The collection reminded me of influnces from Kurt Cobain and the 90s grunge scene to create a lived-in, highly textured and effortlessly cool.  Pretty boys. Handsome boys. They were to be seen everywhere at Matthew Miller. Long hair, short hair, skinny bodies. Even female models were part of this menswear show. The Interview



After his successful SS17 show,  I had a chance to catchup with the talented designer Matthew Miller to pick his brains in fashion, tips, and where he manages to get his energy from. Let me know your thoughts :) hope you like it fashionistas.

I have to be honest, this collaboration with Lavazza has been one of the best collaborations in my five years of blogging. I would personally like to thank the team from Focus PR and Lavazza for such a fun experience during LC:M

Discover Acqua di Parma’s new mens cologne Colonia Club – the fifth scent for men from the luxury Itallian LVMH owned fragrance and beauty brand. 

The refined cologne is set to make a low key debut this week with a limited preview at Bloomingdale's 59th Street flagship in Manhattan and in Canada's Holt Renfrew, before becoming available at other international retail outlets in November.
